{"id":151,"date":"2020-04-01T18:17:01","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T18:17:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/grandmaingrids.com\/frommykitchen\/?p=151"},"modified":"2023-06-03T21:41:39","modified_gmt":"2023-06-03T21:41:39","slug":"homemade-mixed-berry-crisp-with-fresh-whipped-cream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grandmaingrids.com\/frommykitchen\/index.php\/2020\/04\/01\/homemade-mixed-berry-crisp-with-fresh-whipped-cream\/","title":{"rendered":"Homemade Mixed Berry Crisp with Fresh Whipped Cream"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Serves 6 &#8211; Preheat oven to 375\u2109 &#8211; Bake 35 minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fruit Filling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Combine and put into a greased casserole (8 X 8) dish:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>6 cups of fruit &#8211; fresh or frozen (Apples, berries, peaches etc what you like or a combination of each)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoon of cornstarch (or flour if you don\u2019t have cornstarch)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 cup of sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoon of cinnamon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon of salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoon of water (if fruit is frozen or really juicy no need to add the water)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crisp Topping<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mix together<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1\/2 cup of oats<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/3 cup of flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon of salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/3 cup of brown sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\/4 cup of butter (cut or grate in until crumbly)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Sprinkle the crisp topping on top of fruit mixture. Bake 35 minutes, or until all done, bubbly and golden brown\u00a0 (if using frozen fruit it may take a little longer tent with foil if needed, temperature in the middle should be at least 165\u2109.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp Filling<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 pounds rhubarb sliced \u00bd inch slices (6-8 cups)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 cup of sugar<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sprinkle with sugar and let it sit for 15 minutes&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 pound sliced strawberries (6-8 cups)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bd &#8211; \u00be cups sugar&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>sprinkle over strawberries and let sit 15 minutes stirring periodically&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 oranges zest and juice&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 lemons zest and juice<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5 tablespoons cornstarch<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To the zest and juice add the cornstarch mix until all dissolved<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2 teaspoons vanilla<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1 tablespoon cardamom<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mix all together and put in a casserole dish and cover with topping.\u00a0makes a 9 x 13 size crisp.
