{"id":223,"date":"2020-04-10T18:29:32","date_gmt":"2020-04-10T18:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/grandmaingrids.com\/frommykitchen\/?p=223"},"modified":"2020-04-10T18:31:38","modified_gmt":"2020-04-10T18:31:38","slug":"easter-treat-series-part-6-cracker-candy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grandmaingrids.com\/frommykitchen\/index.php\/2020\/04\/10\/easter-treat-series-part-6-cracker-candy\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter Treat Series Part 6, Cracker Candy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1 package of saltines (About 40 crackers)<\/li><li>1 cup (2 sticks) of butter (either salted or unsalted; do not use margarine)<\/li><li>1 cup + 2 tablespoons of firmly packed brown sugar<\/li><li>1 bag of chocolate chips<\/li><li>1\/2 to 3\/4 cup of toasted chopped pecans (or toasted chopped almonds)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line the sheet pan with foil &amp; spray with non-stick cooking spray. Place crackers end to end on the sheet pan, breaking crackers to fit the end if necessary. In a saucepan, melt butter on low heat. Once melted, add brown sugar and turn heat to medium. Continue stirring while bringing to a boil and boil for 3 minutes (set timer). Pour over crackers, spreading evenly and working quickly. Put into the oven and bake for 5 minutes. Remove, pour chocolate chips over top, place a sheet of foil over and let melt for about 3 minutes. Remove foil and spread melted chocolate over the top evenly. Sprinkle the chopped nuts to top, replace foil and refrigerate until set.
