Ingredients
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (or equivalent basic white sauce)
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of grated cheese (optional)
- 1 cup of uncooked elbow noodles
- ½ of a small onion
- 1 celery rib chopped
- 2 cups cooked chopped chicken (ham or beef are good substitute)
Directions
Cook chicken meat until done. Add celery and onions into chicken and saute for a few minutes. Mix the milk in with your white sauce and Add white sauce or soup to chicken. Noodles and cheese and stir all together. If using raw noodles make at least 3 hours a head of time. Put into a buttered casserole dish. If using raw noodles Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour (uncovered). If using cooked noodles cook until hot all the way through to 165 F
Basic White Sauce
- 1/4 cup of butter
- 1/4 cup of flour
- 1 cup of water (or chicken broth for this casserole)
In saucepan melt butter, add flour and cook for 1 minute to get the flour taste out. Add slowly water and stir until smooth and creamy.
