Ginger Snaps

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup of brown sugar
  • ⅔ cup of shortening
  • ¼ cup of molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 ¼ cups of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoons of ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon of cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • Granulated sugar for rolling

Directions

In mixer mix brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Cover refrigerate at least 1 hour

Heat oven 375 Lightly grease cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray. Shape dough into balls dip into sugar. Place on cookie sheet about 3 inches apart.

Bake 8 minutes remove and cool.

Variations: Dipped in chocolate

  • 1 cup white chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon shortening

Cover cookie sheet with wax paper. In bowl melt baking chips and shortening until smooth dip half of each cookie in chocolate. Put on wax paper and let firm.
