Learn how Grandma Ingrid makes Chicken Fried Steak. We used the bread crumbs from our other video. This recipe is to feed around 4 people.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Cube Steak (or top round,top sirloin flattened and tenderized)
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup of milk
- 2 teaspoons divided Salt
- 2 teaspoons divided Pepper
- 2 teaspoons divided Garlic salt or Krista Seasoning
- 1 ½ cup bread crumbs or crushed crackers or chips
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup oil or crisco
Directions
Pound out meat to tenderize even if it is cubed steak season with ½ teaspoon of spices
In small container crack eggs and add milk mix together and season with ½ teaspoon of each spice.
In small container add flour and season with ½ teaspoon of spices
In small container add bread crumbs and season with ½ teaspoon of spices
Take meat and pat dry then dip in flour, shake off excess flour then dip in egg milk and then dip in bread crumbs.
Heat on medium high, add oil and fry steak. Don’t flip the steak until the first side is brown, about 3 minute on each side. Place on Plate
Gravy
- 4 tablespoons of fat (drippings and left over oil)
- 4 tablespoons of flour
- ¾ cup of evaporated milk
- 2 cups of water
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Cook chicken fried steak in a pan to save drippings and oil. Add flour to make a roux stir cooking flour for 1 to 2 more minutes to get the flour taste out. Add 2 cups of room temperature water and stir until smooth consistency. After smooth add evaporated milk. Bring to a boil for about 3 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
