Ingredients
- 1 cup of popcorn kernels
- 1 cup of butter
- 2 cups of brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of light karo syrup
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
Directions
Pop the popcorn and put in a large bowl or divide it into two 9” x 13” pans. In a large saucepan, melt and bring to a boil: butter, brown sugar, karo and salt. Boil for 5 minutes, take off heat and add baking soda. Put hot mixture on popcorn in a large bowl and coat evenly. Put into a 275℉ oven for 45 minutes stirring every 10-15 minutes (or until golden brown and crisp) Let cool and store in a covered container.
Options: You can add peanuts (or any other nut) to popcorn while in the bowl and mix with syrup and then put in the oven. If you want to add chocolate or any other candies, add them at the end, after it comes out of the oven.
